The Sunday afternoon was a brilliant blue sky among the golden harvested cornfields. Family had arrived to help haul off a fallen tree near our house. Six loads were dumped on the banks of the Middle Loup River. The farmer had requested that loads of branches be dumped there to help keep the bank erosion at bay. We were happy to help. After lowering electric fences so we could drive in, the fences were raised again to keep the cattle inside. We had young men to put their energies into the work needed to not only load the vehicles but unload the wood. Job well done fellas!!!
