It's September 15th already!! The weather is cooling down and the corn is almost ready to be harvested. I love the smell of corn as it is combined and dumped into the trucks. Grandson number one and I got our roasted Hatch chiles and made some delicious hot salsa. Canned three flats of tomatoes into salsa. We received an inch of rain last night accompanied by lots of thunder and lightning. Nebraska football season is in full swing now as is Nebraska volleyball. Both teams are playing very well! Granddaughter number two attended her first homecoming dance last Friday night. She looked beautiful and said she had a good time. She also plays the drums in the high school marching band. Looking forward to attending school activities this year.
Our Boelus Days celebration was well attended and the weather cooperated up until the street dance when the skies opened up. I had a vendor table selling some knitted and crocheted items. Those items included shawls with pockets, fingerless gloves and stocking hats. Granddaughter number two sat at the table with me and for me as I wandered around taking pictures of the parade and different activities. It was a good day.
I have joined Postcrossing.com and I am really enjoying it! You send and receive postcards to other members around the world. I have received a postcard from Stone Mountian, Georgia, a postcard representing a juggler organization from Fort Wayne, Indiana, a postcard from Dusseldorf, Germany, of Balboa Park in San Diego, California, a postcard of New York City, NY and I received a postcard of the Platte River State Park here in Nebraska from someone who had visited Nebraska who lives in Orlando, Florida. I look forward to picking up my mail now as there may be a new postcard there waiting for me.
